Up and Down in Bergamo

Up and Down in Bergamo

26 February 2016

Exploring Bergamo, you’ll find the city is divided into a lower and upper part. Each offer a different outlook on the city (literally) and surely offer an array of different monuments. While in the upper city, better known as Città Alta, you can stop at the Capella Colleoni, a gorgeous chapel located next to the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore and built in the late 15th century. Take a stroll through Piazza Vecchia and on to the Venetian Walls for the ultimate romantic outing. Check out the Lower City for glimpses of ancient villages, two excellent art museums: Accademia Carrara & the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art (GAMeC), as well as the modern city.

Wander the streets of both areas to get a feel for the city and fall in love with Bergamo!
