The Venetian Walls of Bergamo
@ | 23 February 2016
One of the most unique aspects of Bergamo is the division between the upper and lower city, known respectively as Città Alta and Città Bassa. From up above you can catch some of the most incredible views, and we highly recommend taking a stroll along the Venetian Walls. Built between the XV and XVII century by the Republic, it was the westernmost defense system, although it was never used for military purposes. After the nineteenth century, the bastions and battlements were converted into a park and it became the perfect spot for locals to take a break.
