The Italian Pyramids… Everything is possibile in Brescia!
31 May 2016
On the Cislano plateau, in a natural amphitheater looking over the eastern shores of Lake Iseo, you can admire an incredible phenomenon known as the Piramidi di Erosione di Zone. Known also as the Route of the Fairies or the Earth Pyramids, this natural phenomenon consists of an imposing sculpture formed over centuries from erosion by the waters from the morainic mountain.
A testimonial to the ancient glacier over 600 meters, it once covered the entire basin that is now Lake Iseo. As the glacier melted, and with the help of the rainfall, the structures were carved out, leaving a larger mass on top of the vertical forms. With different forms and sizes, the biggest of them all reaches 30 meters to the sky with a base diameter of 8 meters!
Declared as a Regional Reserve in 1984, the area sprawls over 21 hectares at an altitude of 400-600 meters, which welcomes thousands of tourists each year.
