The City of Iseo
4 August 2016
Iseo, on the homonymous lake, has been an important city for trade since the Middle Ages, when it was the connection between Brescia and the Valle Camonica. The medieval city center is centered around Piazza Garibaldi, surrounded by old buildings with arcades that host fabulous boutiques and small stores with local products. The piazza is also home to the biggest market in the Lake Iseo and Franciacorta area.
For those interested in art and history, Iseo offers plenty of spots in the city to get a feel for the rich past. Stop by the “Pieve di s. Andrea” for frescoes by Hayez, the Oldofredi Castle for cultural events, and Palazzo dell’Arsenale for art exhibits.
