The Best traditional Restaurants on Lake Maggiore
3 July 2016
It could be for dinner, lunch or breakfast, but in any case eating local around lake Maggiore is always a great experience. Even the most little town on the lakeshore hides some very good restaurants: here’s a list of those not to miss.
You cannot leave Sesto Calende if you haven’t tried the famous Raviolo of Sesto Calende: it is a specialty of “La Casa della Pasta Fresca” (www.lacasadellapastafresca.it/welcome.php?lang=eng&page=home), where you can buy or taste it.
In Angera you can try the traditional risotto with ossobuco at the restaurant “Vecchia Angera” (www.hotelpavoneangeralagomaggiore.it/?lang=en) or, if you prefer fish, taste the super creative and curated dishes of “Il Porto” (www.instagram.com/explore/locations/519549807/).
Driving up along the lakeshore, make a brief stop for a typical Italian Aperitivo in front of the lake at “Molo” (www.facebook.com/ilmolo.diranco.7) in Ranco or enjoy a dinner with a breathtaking view from the terrace of “Belvedere” restaurant (www.hotelristorantebelvedere.it).
Not too far from there, in Osmate, taste the menu of “Trattoria delle Zucche” (www.trattoriadellezucche.com), entirely made of local food.
If you find yourself in Ispra for breakfast, don’t miss the best “brioche” in town: San Gabriele bakery (www.sangabrieleispra.it) is loved for its unforgettable pastries.
In the northern part of the coast we suggest you to try the dishes of “Concordia” restaurant(concordialaveno.altervista.org), and the one of “La Capanna Gigliola” (ristorante-gigliola.weebly.com) defined as the most amazing balcony on Lake Maggiore.
