The Beauty of Lake Maggiore – Why Hemingway loved Luino
1 July 2016
“I saw a wedge-shaped gap in the mountains on the other shore and I thought that must be Luino”. Nobody can forget the biggest city on the Lombardy side of Lake Maggiore: a place hung in mid-air between tradition and the modern world, that observe and contrast the blue of the water of the beautiful lake. Take a walk along the lakeshore and you will admire the Church of Madonna del Carmine (15th century), the private chapel of the House of Serbelloni (18th century), the adjacent palace, and Palazzo Verbania.
And if you find yourself in Luino on Wednesday, don’t forget to visit the colorful and traditional street market, where you’re sure to enjoy a unique experience.
