Searching for Pristine Nature in the Alps aboard the Bernina Express

25 March 2016

A one of a kind trip aboard the Bernina Express, taking you right through the alps, woods, icy landscapes, and alpine lakes.

The Bernina Express is more than just a comfortable ride through the alps, this train will take you for the experience of a lifetime through pristine nature and jaw-dropping natural landscapes. It’s hard not to feel like you’re in a film while aboard, watching the snowy hills, waterfalls.

From Tirano to St. Moritz, the Bernina Express heads over the Bernina Pass (altitude 2253m), before descending to the infamous Swiss destination. The wagons offer every comfort available and are warm in the winter, and cool in the summer.

The ride is so incredible, that it has even been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Route

Taking off from Tirano, you’ll reach Brusio, which begins the ascent. Passing the Poschiavo Lake, the train continues on to panoramic Grüm Alps, at 2091m and a view of the Palù glacier. Climbing up to the Bernina Lodging, you can enjoy views of the Cambrena glacier before heading back down, passing the Morteratsch glacier and the Bernina mountains. The voyage continues on through charming villages before finally reaching the St. Moritz station.

There are plenty of opportunities to stop on the way and cross the magnificent Val Roseg, or the parallel Morteratsch Valley until arriving at the glacier of the same name.

Booking is only available online and there are limited places. See more at the www.rhb.ch and start planning a trip.
