Mantua & Sabbioneta, UNESCO World Heritage Site
6 April 2016
“Mantua and Sabbioneta” has joined the World Heritage List in July 2008. According to UNESCO, the two exemplary cities showcase the extraordinary urban design of the Renaissance. While Sabbioneta can be considered a kind of ideal city, having been studied and well planned, Mantua has developed and adjusted to ideals of urban planning over the centuries. The architectural, artistic, and urban values of the Renaissance are evident throughout the area and help us reconstruct and understand the European culture. The inclusion of these stunning cities as a UNESCO World Heritage Site demonstrates their capacity to safeguard and promote their incredible history.
