Lake Como is an amazing destination for those who love to spend their holidays in touch with the surrounding environment, coming in direct contact with the great outdoors. These are landscapes to be lived between lakes, mountains and plains, on foot, by bike or by boat sailing the waters along the coasts. Let your imagination run wild and try out flying, climbing or horse-back riding, and in the winter season, rushing down from snow-white slopes or walking along enchanting trails with snowshoes. Even children and teens are sure to find lots of opportunities for fun and suggestions for practicing some healthy sports.
Water sports can be enjoyed on the lake, where you can really get the adrenaline pumping. Try your hand at windsurfing, kitesurfing, and wakeboarding in the northern part of Lake Como. Head out on a sail boat or go at it with oar in hand for a canoe excursion. You’ll also find plenty of spots to go canyoning and fishing.
Lake Como features plenty of natural beaches and shores to enjoy a pleasant day in the sun, you can relax with a dip in the crystal clear waters. Hang out on the gorgeous lakeside before grabbing a bite to eat at a local restaurant nearby.
The lake offers all kind of activities, but we can’t forget about the extraordinary sports to be enjoyed further inland. Among these, be sure to grab a bike and explore the paths like the “Ciclovia dei Laghi”, surrounded by nature and suitable also for kids. Leaving the calmer paths, there are also plenty of itineraries for the more experienced cyclists, where a mountain bike is mandatory, and where you can reach incredible panoramas. Hike along the paths of these mountains: hundreds of kilometres of trails and paths that cross the territory of lake Como and Brianza. Climb the rock: put yourself to the test on one of the rock walls which beckon enthusiasts from all over the world. Discover the territory in an unusual way with horse riding, turning to one of the equestrian centers. Or maybe take it a bit easier and enjoy a game of golf on one of the countless courses.
Due to the topography here (mostly mountainous), the area offers several places to take off for an in-air experience! Tourists can fly by paragliding or hang gliding through the incredible landscapes. Those who aren’t as courageous can enjoy the view from above by taking a cableway or funicular to reach Piani d’Erna, Piani di Bobbio, Piani d’Artavaggio, Pian delle Betulle, Pigra or Brunate. For children, or for those looking for fun in complete safety, there’s the possibility to try the thrill of jumping from one branch to another or climbing a tree in the adventure parks.
